Bargains to put on eggs

Thank you, I'm not currently selling off the road. My mom doesn't like people coming up to our door so I'm just selling to a friend and I give my grandma some but she usually doesn't pay. Do you have any ideas to sell eggs off the road without having people come to our door? I thought about a cooler but I wouldn't want the cardboard cartons to get wet. Thanks for any help

We also don't give any bargain price on our eggs. We tell our friends this is super fresh eggs a day to 2 days old. Can't get fresher than that. And they pay $4/dozen including my in laws, occasionally I give them (gramma) 18 count carton for $4 but that's about it. We sell 8 -9 doz of eggs a week.

No I just have a lot and want to get rid of them faster, but don't want to lower the price.

Well, you've received some good ideas from folks but it seems we have more info now. You sell from your house but the customers can't come to your house...that makes it rather difficult to sell them.

An idea would be to sell them via social areas that you visit....church, school, ballgames, whatever gatherings of people that you or your family attend are targets areas. Get the word out via word-of-mouth, maybe some flyers to hand to people, or a simple business card. On it state that you have farm fresh eggs, if you free range then add that info, and that you will deliver to such-and-such gathering. You'll have to include a phone number to make it work well, which might be a problem with your mother, though. Otherwise, simply state on the hand-out that you will have eggs at whatever function you attend. Maybe if there is a farmers market nearby you could set up a table there or either sell through another vendor....be kind of like a supplier to the retail seller.

Also, if you were to put a small rack in the cooler to set the egg cartons on and keep the ice below the rack that would probably help keep the egg cartons from getting soggy.

Without a sign out front and people coming to your door it will be somewhat difficult to sell from your house unless you use an honor system with the ice cooler.

Thank you very much, I'm going to set up a stand in a month or so and I'm going to sell to some teachers and friend at my school.

Be aware that we are going into fall/winter and production will most likely drop. If you think you will have regular customers then make a list of your buyers. Go somewhat slowly to feel out the demand. On your list include how many and how often each customer buy eggs...compare this "demand" to the current "supply" that the chickens are producing. What you don't want to do is promise out a bunch of eggs and not be able to deliver. I would think that it would be on a first-come-first-served basis on getting on the list. Who knows....you might have to start a second list of people waiting to get on the buying list.

How many eggs are your chickens currently producing? And, from how many chickens?
