Question for fellow urbanites I just got three quail that are 2 months old. I'm in an urban environment and they are in my back garden. It's a closed outside space with tiles in which no animal, including cats (a feat in and of itself!), has ever managed to enter.

However, there is a very loud dog who has pretty scary barks who lives on the other side of the fence. The quails can't see him. But they can obviously hear them. I can't fully tell if it makes them jumpy but I can't imagine they are delighted by it. He barks mainly at night. They have a more open and more closed part to the hutch. Are there extra measures I can take so they feel as safe as they actually are from predators?

Added a picture of the hutch (from before I added any quails) to show the set up.

Thanks all!

Quails enjoy having sticks and greenery in their cages to hide out in. I'm sure they would feel safe being able to hide when they need to! Eventually they will get used to the barking and it will just be background noise to them!

Thanks! I added some but I think I'll add more so they feel they can take cover etc. I can tell they are all a bit different. One seems to be bothered by nothing, another curious, and a third pretty jumpy.
