Ha ha ha! I was thinking 2' off the ground.... sorry :)


for others that dont bother to read the other links.... the brooder normally starts about 2 inches off the ground (2") you can monitor the location of the chicks and as they skirt to the outside of the box, you can raise the box by setting it on bricks or other blocks. bricks are nice at about 2 in each. this effectivly lets more air circulate and the temp drops. this usually happens at a rate about the same as they grow and feather so the gap at the bottom "grows" with the chicks.

when they are fully feathered you simply remove the brooder and they remain in the same pen either to grow out as meet birds, or untill you combine them with the rest of your laying flock.
