Barnevelder breeders lets work together and improve the breed

I got my Vb birds in May, 4 hens and 2 roos. Two weeks ago, out of the blue, I met a guy at the Del Mar Fair trying to place a roo because his neighbor was compaining about the crowing. A 2 year old Vb roo that he got as a hatchling strait from VanBarnveld/Peace of Thyme! It was with a batch that were all supposed to be pullets! Now I have distant blood to breed in and he is a very nice looking boy. I will have to post pics of all the birds so you guys in the know can tell me what their falts and strenths are. So cool.

Been pretty busy over the last few days:) DH and I did a lot of work on the coop. DH finished the automatic pop doors on both sides. Now the doors open and close on a timer

We also stained it to help protect the wood.

Both doors work off the same motor and it's really easy to adjust the timer to the changing day length. We're waiting for a new solar charger to come to hook up to the battery.

Here's a link to how the autodoors work.

My broody hen also hatched out 8 babies over the weekend

I gave her 10 eggs to sit on, but messed up candling and tossed 2 that I thought weren't developing, but they were

I now have 3 other hens that are broody (all cornevelders)....I don't need anymore chicks

, but may set some blue x blue eggs under one of them and see if I can get a good splash

She's my favorite "vB" hen and is 4 year's-old

The chicks are blue roo x cornevelder and it looks like there's 4 boys and 4 girls:)

Hi, I am new to the Barnevelder breed. I saw a picture of on my friend in Montana had just got, and i fell in love. So I ordered some eggs on e-bay. 5 beautiful babies hatched and are doing well. (3 wyandottes too.) Not sure if I have boys or girls, but my favorite one might be a boy. Can anyone help in guessing? Thanks!

She's so gorgeous!!! and adorable with her chicks.
I wish I lived closer to you, I would take some of those chicks off of your hands.
am in serious lust with this breed.
