I did a search on breeding pens and got some good ideas. I'd looked at coops and runs plenty but hadn't given much thought to multiple breeding pens. Since I haven't finished my half of the coop / run yet I'm thinking I might be able to change my plan and build a 12x3 coop with removable dividers so during breeding season I could split it into three and during off season (I'm with you on not brooding when it's too cold or too hot) I could remove the dividers so they'd have more room. Same with the run - it would be 12x11 or when divided each run would each run would be 4x11. I'm thinking I could keep a trio in each pen/run?
But I only have three hens right now. If I kept three roos, would I need a 4th pen to get them away from the hens when I wasn't wanting them to breed? I'm thinking I would b/c otherwise they'd wear out the hens. Hmmmm... so many decisions.
Hmm.....
