Barnevelder breeders lets work together and improve the breed

I did a search on breeding pens and got some good ideas. I'd looked at coops and runs plenty but hadn't given much thought to multiple breeding pens. Since I haven't finished my half of the coop / run yet I'm thinking I might be able to change my plan and build a 12x3 coop with removable dividers so during breeding season I could split it into three and during off season (I'm with you on not brooding when it's too cold or too hot) I could remove the dividers so they'd have more room. Same with the run - it would be 12x11 or when divided each run would each run would be 4x11. I'm thinking I could keep a trio in each pen/run?

But I only have three hens right now. If I kept three roos, would I need a 4th pen to get them away from the hens when I wasn't wanting them to breed? I'm thinking I would b/c otherwise they'd wear out the hens. Hmmmm... so many decisions. :) Hmm.....

Okay I had ordered 2 females from Meyer Hatchery. But I'm thinking one is maybe a roo. "Kaylee" is around 7 weeks old.
What do you guys think? Boy or girl?

Oh good. I hope you're right Trisha!

Trisha, tlsranch, is hands down the one for barnies. I lurked on here a while looking for barnies to improve my birds lines. I was hesitate because of the distance, she's in CA and I'm in TN, but I made my peace and jumped in. I've got her eggs in the bator now, but I will buy my blue barnie eggs from her. eggs are well packed, and she's wonderful to deal with. One of the nicest ladies on here.

Oh, by the way, GORGEOUS silvers, banties and LF, SIMPLY GORGEOUS!!!
Well, like I stated i'm in TN and Trisha's in CA. I got my hatch. I had 22 go into lockdown. Right now I have 17 healthy chicks and one more trying very hard to be born. I wanted to thank Trisha on the public forum. I'm pleased as punch!!!!!

Iv got a question. What's the differents between barnevelders and Lakinvelders. I have 4 lakins And this breed is new to us. Would like so input if there is any. Or is there a lakinevelder thread and I can't find it. Iv googled this breed and found that they are not good with people and are very noisy birds.
