I recently acquired what was supposed to be a pair of bantam barnevelders, but I am fairly convinced that the female is a partridge something. They're actually about 1-1/2 times the size of the LF barnie I have that's only about 10 days younger (they're all about 2 to 2-1/2 months old now), so at this point I'm kinda doubtin' that they're even bantams to begin with. But as the female has feathered in, I've been telling my husband that I dunno what that is but it looks partridge to me and AIN'T a barnevelder. Color's all off for a barnevelder. And as I said, now at about 2-1/2 months of age, she is looking more and more partridge and less and less barnevelder. The lady I got them from hatched them herself from eggs she purchased online, but I'm thinking the breeder may be breeding more things than bantam barnies & some of the eggs got mixed up before she sent them out to her buyers. Something along those lines must have happened, because as sweet and pretty as this girl is, she AIN'T a barnevelder. Looks like a small partridge rock to me.
I'll try to get pics of her today to show you guys. When I look at pics of partridge rock tweenagers, that's EXACTLY what she looks like. When I look at pics of barnevelder tweenagers
not so much.
