My barn needs a LOT of work. Starting with a new door, new siding, some new posts inside, foundation masonry repairs, new windows, new ventilation gable ends...And yeah, this pic is selectively cropped so you can't see the ridiculous mess of gardening tools, mini-tractor, dis-assembled power tools, random bits of lumber etc. inside.
I keep the ex-milking parlor fairly clean and put the dogs and sick birdies in there as needed. Note, old milking stanchions work pretty well for dog grooming.
The barn was originally built in the mid 1800s, to house a vehicle of some sort (carriage, later a tractor), six cows and a bunch of sheep. The previous owner kept his horse and the occasional sick cow in there. I used to have my chickens in there, but moved them out to a new coop some months ago. It's mostly storage space at the moment, but in a few years as money becomes available, we're going to fix the foundation and renovate it into additional living space/guest quarters and art studio space. My project for next year is to install siding, build new windows and vents, re-glaze existing windows, paint and build doors.
