Nope, it is not an EE. It may be an unrecognized color but it came from Sky Blue Egg, is rumpless and hugely tufted, that does not fit the description of an EE. I should just e-mail Anne to see if it is a new project

it is VERY pretty

An off-color silkie is not called something else because it is not a recognized color

I got my butt handed to me on the ameraucana board for the same thing. Believe me, until it is a variety recognized by the APA, it is an EE. They are very snooty and rude about it too. Not trying to be mean, just trying to save you the frustration of trying to share with people who think you have cooties.

Well maybe you should keep your "butt" to yourself.

To the OP, the araucana breeders have different standards so you may inquire about. The reason it cannot be accepted as an AOV variety as an ameraucana is because a barred bird genetically cannot produce black or slate legs. Which is one of the major governing standards of ameraucanas.

yes, I understand, have been in those conversations too, but the araucana is a whole other breed, no muff/beard. I don't think this would qualify as the same thing. Thanks for the help, I do appreciate the heads up. The funny thing is that I have lavender ameraucana, but they are not recognized either, so they would probably be called EE. It's such a pain trying to see where all the lines are. Our marans are not recognized, but they are not called something else because of it. Go figure

I'd love to see a pic of your barred araucana, probably pretty neat looking.

If you read somewhere on the Ameraucana website where it talks about the recognized colors, and what is an easter egger, it does say that if it breeds true 50% of the time it's an Ameraucana. So I don't know if lavender is an easter egger, or an Ameraucana. Where is Jean?

I don't think the folks on the Ameraucana board are any more "snooty" than any other breeders.
