barred hollands

Hello everyone,

I ordered barred hollands from Ideal and my chicks are now 6 weeks old. I keep seeing folks with pictures of their barred plymouth rocks and they look just like the pictures of what my barred hollands are supposed to look like, single comb, black and white spotted hens darker than the roosters. I guess I have to wait and see if they have white eggs. That seems to be the only difference. Let me know if there is any other way to tell the difference.

Well, the Barred Hollands are smaller, lighter weight birds, but I dont know other than that.

My hollands looked just like them too, and also came from Ideal. Mine have white eggs.... SMALL white eggs. I'm not happy with the breed, but I'm sure you got the right chickens.

I didn't really think I had gotten the wrong chickens, just wondered if there were other differences. I have 5 hens so I guess that won't be too many and I'll just use two eggs instead of one in recipes. Is small eggs the only reason that you are unhappy with them?
