Barred Owl - Should I worry?

Celeste has become very much a part of our routine and an odd addition to the flock, for now while she's here. She doesn't go on her night hunt until everyone is up for the night and I'm headed back to the house. It's as though she feels it's part of her duties of being an owl. She's wonderful.

What a beautiful bird. That is really something. Those are great pictures. Thank you. I would just enjoy it while it lasts.

They edited out the part where I said it was moronic to suggest killing it. They said it was uncalled for. In my experience, it is against the rules to question the moderators..... but I think that my comment was a hell of alot more called for than the one I was referencing.

Yes. He said overall to not acknowledge her nor even to refer to her by a name. He said it could be dangerous for her in the event she finds people who aren't friendly and will try to hurt her. I still talk to her, though. She's like 3-4ft from me, it's weird for me to not acknowledge any being that close to me.

No one has reported a missing owl within at least 250miles of me.
You don't have to do what the falconers say. You seemed to be doing alright before you called in those "experts". I would think she is more likely to go and find people less friendly if you ignore her.

Is Celeste still visiting ?
Yes! She's still here

I'm going to build a nest box for her at the end of the month that she'll hopefully use. The Cornell Ornithology Department has plans available for one.
