It’s been 3 weeks! I was way off! Now I bet a few days!

you could always check their pelvic bones. Pick them up backwards like a football, but their tail towards you. Find the vent and then feel on either side of it. The points are the pelvic bones. Your hoping for 3 fingers between the two bones, which will indicate laying is within days.

Yes - today was day 3, and only one of the girls is laying so far. I tried patting her sister and she was very indignant I even attempted, so maybe a little way off for her yet!

You can tell each time she lays that the egg is getting a little bigger. Eek! Sister friend will come around... she’ll want to do what her big sister is doing!

One week later, and the second laid a HUGE first egg (poor girl), back to normal size now though. And I’ve finally managed to get a decent photo of her!

Okay, those eggs are adorable and so pretty!!! My BR are far from laying. She looks stunning!

Pretty girl. Glad I saw this thread. Was worried my pullet was turning into a cockerel, but it looks identical to yours maybe even more black.

Here they are now - very chatty, very happy, big girls!

One had been sick in the top photo (hence the pale face, I guess) but back to normal now.
