I am not sure but isn't squatting another sign for being close to laying?? I know she acts total opposite of her normal actions when she gets ready to lay, like chicken PMS in my experience.

None of my other chickens are laying yet. I just noticed how big her wattles and comb were today and decided to take some pictures. Lately, when I try to pick her up, she will run as fast as she can to the other side of the coop or into the run. She just started that like a week ago. Normally she will struggle a little about me picking her up but it's never been like this :/
I still have the nesting boxes blocked off because they were sleeping in there and making a mess. That problem was 2 months ago. Should I try again?

you may want to put a ping pong ball or golf ball in a couple nesting boxes to help train them to lay there, my Grandma used wooden eggs her Daddy carved.
