Barred Plymouth Rock, pullet or roo?

If you really want to send him I'd be happy to take him off your hands. Send be a PM and I'll give you my details. I love having my roosters around but just as full disclosure, if they go after my daughter or wife they do end up in the freezer. So if you don't want to send him for that reason I understand.

Great news! Someone locally looked at Rex and is going to pick him up with 2 of the 4 week old BPR's that I know are pullets! He wants to start breeding them with other BPR pullets. So happy he'll have a good home and be able to be a daddy someday! That takes care of making my little backyard flock down to 9 chickens. Yeah!

If you still have him I'll take him. We have 3 BR hens. We live in Pittsboro. I work in CH and the wife works in Carrborro on 54. Give me a call 919-323-2703 Jacob

I'd take him too but I am far from you.

See how the other Barred rock looks black dominant with white at 4 weeks and the little roo seems more white with black barrs. And the pinkish comb vs the yellower comb. I was told barred rock pullets had black splash on their feet and he has it too in the 4 week picture so I would have guessed pullet at the younger age too.

I have one barred rock and she is very very sweet. I think maybe they are a sweet breed.

He got picked up yesterday, and the guy was super excited, I guess Rex is a very good looking roo. He also took two 4 week old BPR pullets so he will have some of his own ladies, they'll make a nice breeding trio, and I'm glad Rex will get to be a daddy someday. Thanks for the offer jacob! Nice to be able to rehome my chicks. I guess it's easier to find a home for a rooster if it's a good looking purebred one. The 9 that I have left seem a lot calmer now that the coop is roomier for them. They all look at me like, "OK, I'm being good mom, please keep me!" Going to visit the four I started for my friends today that moved to their new home last weekend. Can't wait to see how they like their new digs. They got leftover corn on the cob this morning and LOVED it!
