Barred plymouth rock?? Question from a newbie :)

No form of sexing is ever 100% accurate, but this method has been used for years and has worked for a lot of people.
True, but not all chicks are created equal. I've followed this sexing method before, & female Plymouth Barred Rock headspots vary in size, sometimes body color follows. So leg color also will help with sexing if you run into a tricky few;).

Not to muddy the waters intentionally, but I had a pullet with lighter legs. She did, however, have the defined head spot. I thought for sure she was a he - she even acted like a roo and had a fast growing comb. Maybe it's because she was a hatchery bird?

She's a terrific chicken, though! Friendly, smart, and definitely top of the pecking order...

That's exactly what I mean by no chick is created equal. I guess she'll have to watch her chicks closely as they grow.
Here's my Heritage Plymouth Barred Rock pullet.

She's purebred. I'm gonna be receiving replacements for the ones that died a day after arrival, they died the day after April 1st.
My replacements won't be ready until September though.
