Barred Rocks can be sexed at hatch by color so no need to wait this long. Males are much lighter due to having two barring genes rather than the one that pullets have.

Saddle feathers are in the saddle area where a saddle would sit on a horse. They are skinny, shiny fringe of feathers that hang over the edge just before you get to the tail.

My Jett, i thought was a roo very bright red comb and wattles early on, lighter in barring.. but she squats for me and has become so feminine,, Im not upset mind you,.. but poor girl Ive been calling her him for 3 months.. hahahh...

your guy also has what mine didnt the long flowing tail feathers.. jett even thougth a bit different in shape and hold set they are still short and rounded not pointed..
