Hi all-
I'm new to chickens and got 4 brand new chicks about 3 1/2 weeks ago. 2 barred rocks, 1 RIR and 1 BO. I initially though one of the BR may be a rooster because it was a GIANT compared to the others. I think they were all the same age when I got them. (1 or 2 days old). Now, based on coloring, I think the little BR may be a rooster. It is by far the littlest of all the chicks. BUT, it seems to be a little lighter than the other BR and has a large white smear on the head, as where the larger BR's white has turned to stripes already. Any ideas? We can't have a rooster, so wanna know sooner than later!

thanks.

Photos would help an awful lot.

The differences between the males and females makes sexing them at 5-6 weeks very, very obvious. Here's a few of my photos of both hatchery type and true bred type. The males sprout combs and wattles months ahead of the females.
The males have double barring genes, so they look brighter, bolder in white barring. The females will duller in comparison.
