Barred rock chick question

I need a male, as my rooster got into it with an coyote and the injuries were too massive to overcome. So, I went to Tractor Supply and the one bin had straight run Barred Rock chicks. Only there were black ones and yellow ones. The next box over had Smokey Pearl pullets (never heard of those). I wonder if they didn't get mixed up? Are Barred Rock chicks ever yellow? I questioned the woman and she insisted they were all what the label said. Now, I have to go out and see how many of the black ones have large spots on their heads.

She’s quite mistaken. Barred rock chicks are never yellow. They’re very dark with some patches.

Thank you! I think I got pullets for sure, as the barred rock were the only ones straight run. She got them mixed up and didn't know it. Of my 5 black ones, barred rock (assumed), 3 have a big light dot on their heads, so probably male from what I can determine. Yay! I need a cockerel and, having 3 to choose from, I can see which will work out best.
