Barred Rock Chicks Need Sexing

I am torn on these cause I had no doubts at first. I was told these were sexed and I had pullets. So I got a bit attached. I kept my distance from the others till I knew. My absolute favorite little cuddle bunny trying to crow. omg Just was not a good feeling. Even looking at all the pics online they look like girls though. Just full grown ready to lay eggs girls cause the comb is red. At 14 weeks the big red comb has me worried. If its just the one is a rooster the hubby will just have to build me a breeding pen cause I am not eating my cuddler . Why could it have not been the mean one. sigh

btw found another section in this forums that has some good pics that made me feel better. Maybe just the one is a roo or maybe its a girl with identity issues and a penchant for trying to crow.

After posting this morning, I went out and studied them some more. The vendor was telling the truth that mine are different ages. The ones with the larger combs are bigger birds. They don't have the light coloring that you see with the males, but what I did notice is that several have bluish feathers. Maybe they are crossed with something.

And I should also say that I shouldn't assume an evil motive - it's entirely possible she didn't know either - not that she was pulling the wool over my eyes, but she honestly believed they were all female - and who knows? Maybe they are.

If they are older, maybe they have more developed combs for that reason. Or, maybe like you, I'm just really hoping I have all females.

Update - I heard crowing this morning.

I'm going to post some updated pics of mine today if I can get a little helper in the run. I still have not had any real crowing. Had that first little weak chick attempt and silence since them. My husband said my running out crying scared the crows out of them. Being male they simply could not deal with the drama. bah

Looking back on my bank statement I got the exact day i bought these so I am fairly certain they are about 17 weeks. These are the same birds I posted here before. Until I am certain none are facing the hubby and the knife . Just curious if the opinions are still the same. I have the deathly fear that I will wake up to all 20 of my kiddies crowing one day. irrational fear but its there.

number 8 I have 3 who look exactly the same. almost impossible to tell them apart but all have same comb development and that tail. Its hard to see but tail has blue and green feathers mixed in. you can see the three of them up top with one of the br pics. They stay pretty grouped up like they are in a little gang so hard to catch them for solo pics.

I don't know Heatherlynne but I have 9 Barred Rocks that all look like yours and I am afraid I got all roosters. Not a good straight run.

Boy, they seem to be all cockerels, except perhaps the shy one in the background. If they are pullets, they sure have put on cockerel's clothing! Can't really tell on #2, but I see saddle feathers coming in on #6. Very light for girls. Here is a 17 wk old cockerel, then a pullet about the same age, for you to compare:
