Hey all,
I know with pure bred Barred Rocks you can tell hens/roos apart by the markings on their heads when they are newly hatched chicks.

Would the same likely hold true if the Roo was a Barred Rock but the Hen was an Easter Egger (EE)?

Or more to the point, is it possible to tell what sex these two little guys that hatched 36 hours or so ago?

We had the same mix hatch in April. Our EE looks just like yours but we only had one egg from her, the other eggs had a BR daddy but other moms. They all turned out to have BR markings some darker and some lighter. I am not good about being able to tell the dots on their head after they are born but I would assume that it would hold true since the coloring seems to be so strong.
Hopefully someone with more experience with chicken genetics will chime in.
