I have 3 Barred Rocks and this one looks differnet then the other two, it's comb and wattles seem bigger and it's tail is different. It is 6 weeks old, what so you think, pullet or roo? Thanks

I wanted to add a pic of one of the other BR's that I believe to be a pullet and the difference in their tails.

At six weeks, I believe that light one is a pullet. They don't always follow the sexing rules. My own Lexie is as light as her sons.

Here is Lexie at 8 weeks old, fooling lots of BR experts on BYC:

Lexie at 10 weeks with sister, Ivy:

Here is a 5 week old BR cockerel--see that honking huge comb?

I know they can be different but I just sold a BR roo, 4 wks old, his comb was 3 times that tall and way redder. If you took a picture next to the others for contrast on the color that would help.

Personally I wouldn't get rid of it yet, if you can't keep roos. Has it tried to crow yet? If you don't have adult roos it will probably try soon if it is a male.

PULLET I have a BR and @ 3.5 weeks, his comb was much larger & redder than the one on yours.

So...my opinion is PULLET...IF it is a true Barred Rock. I say this because BR's have yellow legs/feet and Cuckoo Marans have pink legs/feet. Your chick has greenish/black/slate legs/feet. So it would seem as though it's not a BR. BUT I am a bit of a novice, so I am certainly not an authority.

The barring looks pretty evenly black/white, so it's hard to tell gender based on that. (The barring on your chick actually looks more like my Cuckoo Marans than a BR)

So...maybe a BR authority (like SpeckledHen) could give a better answer than I.

ETA: I see she has already been here

Looks like my hatchery quality BRs did with the slate/black on the legs. My first instinct is Roo.. but his/her comb isn't that big- I would wait it out a little longer!
