You can tell by the stripes. I think barred rocks are the easiest to sex, right below sexlinked. The cock will have more white stripes and look paler. The pullet has more black and looks darker. If you have two side by side, there's no doubt who's who. It gets tricky if someone mixes in black sex linked cockerels because they feather in like br pullets but get big red combs pretty quick.
