Barred Rock Hen cock-a-doodles

I have a laying hen that cock-a-doodles like a rooster every morning. She's not as loud as a male, but she gives it a good try and she's fairly consistent. Anyone had this happen/know why??

I had a barred rock hen that started crowing after my roo passed away. It was pretty funny to watch but she was also sort of mean to the other hens, too.

My 10 month old Polish pullet crows sometimes. Do you have a rooster? If there's no rooster present a hen may sort of take on that role. It's pretty common!

I've never heard her cluck or anything else...just honk.

ahhh...no, I don't have a rooster! It sounds like I have a gal that's taking on a more masculine roll? that's OK...she's happy, healthy and good to her sisters
