Well that comparison is okay. But I'm still confused. My roos have a longer tail than the barred rocks in the pics( and they're still young at 7 months) But their combs are much more barred rock like than dominique(sp?) Oh well, they lay eggs quite reliably and that what I got them for now if they would stop laying in odd spots!
The sickles grow longer as the bird gets closer to the molt. Then they regrow and get longer and longer till the next molt. You mean like these tail feathers like my BR Dutch has?
I love my barred rocks too! They are so docile and even the less handled chicks I have hatched are quite friendly! I hatched some chantecler eggs and ended up processing or selling all but one as they were so rough and aggressive. My barred rock roos are perfect gentlemen! Although as soon as a hen yells her"I just laid an egg song" One of the two roos come running! Poor things, I can;t imagine!

dont compare you tails to my br roo as the guineas have plucked his tail and he is finally got some tail back
cw, I think she was comparing the tail on her BR to that link I posted that compares a BR to a Dom. The rooster in that picture doesn't have long sickles.
