Barred Rock or Cuckoo Maran?

Barred Rock-yellow legs. Seems young to be red in the comb area for a BR. For now, I'd say cockerel. How old are they?

Looks a lot like my barred rock hens to me.

I don't have any pictures of when they were couple of days old. They are now about 4 1/2 weeks old. It does have a single "bud" on its beak. It has a very red beak. Also, I might add that it did have a rather large yellow spot on its head. At first, I thought it was an austrolop until I saw the yellow spot.

What kind of comb does it have? Doesn't look like a single comb to me, but it's hard to see in the pics.

It's a Barred Rock. The easiest way to tell the difference is by

1. How stripey it is. The contrast is a lot sharper between the colours on a Barred Rock. Barred Rocks look like a bar code LOL. A cuckoo-coloured bird is more blurred looking.

2. Legs. Cuckoo Marans have dull pink/grey legs, Rocks have bright yellow legs.

Sorry, I didn't see the rose comb. It's probably a Dom and I'd say cockerel with red comb at four weeks.

Ok. What is the difference between the Dominiques and Barred Rocks? Thank you, I am learning so much. I think the sex is what bothers me the most. I wish it were easier to tell for impatient people like me!
