I ordered several barred plymouth rock chicks from McMurray's Hatchery. They are about 5wks old now and one of the chicks is odd. All the other chicks have yellow beaks with a black spot or two at the base, yellow/gray legs, and have grown the black/white feathers. I'm still new to all things chickens but I thought 'barred' is the color. Is this correct? Could this be a totally different breed or just the wrong color?

Sorry, hopefully I fixed the pictures. I did have a rare chick but sadly it was DOA. This is my "odd" chick pictured below.

your description sounds correct, this is my barred rock when she was 4 wks old

they should have the black and white, the barred is the white bars on their black feathers.

What is odd about the other chick? Can you describe it for us? McMurrays has an "extra" chick that they put in that's supposed to be a "rare" breed if you order 25 birds, so maybe it's the extra one and it won't be a barred rock. Ours was an EE. Not rare at all but certainly different.

Packing Peanut... they call them. To keep the other chicks warm on the delivery.

What is odd? Looks like a BR pullet to me. Are her legs a different color? Hatchery birds will have odd color legs. You didn't say you ordered PULLETS, just chicks.... is it possible that the others are all ROOS? They will have more white barring.
