Hoping y'all can help me with this one! This is my first time with BRs and I'm finding them hard to sex. I have one chick, almost 6 weeks old, and I think he's a roo? He has a bit of wattle development and the other chicks don't... I have someone who wants him but I dont want to accidentally give a hen away!

It may be a cockerel. I think with barred rocks, females are much more dark as chicks, and males are lighter. That chick looks to be lighter in coloring.

I have to agree with @Peep-Chicken about the lighter shade indicating a male. Here's my BR hen when she was that age:

For almost 6 weeks old that is a very small amount of comb and wattle growth. A cockerel should have a much bigger and redder comb by now. I say that's a pullet, although the feather colour is suspiciously light. I would wait at least a couple more weeks before making any decisions about giving him or her away.
