Barred Rock question

Luvmychickenkids...CUTE pic! Thats what mine looked like as babies too. I agree the ones you have look like my Australorps did at that age. The one with the brown looks like my black sex link though, maybe they are a mix?

I saw barring very early on in my BR. Also I noticed their legs are dark and BR are more orange with a little black on them. However they do look like nice healthy birds, so its all good, right?!

I admit thought it is the pits when you buy what you want to find out its not what you thought it was. I ordered 1white silkie and 1 black silkie on line. I got what looked like 2 white ones instead. Then 1 died 2 days later. Now 5 weeks later its obvious the one remaining is not white. I think she is a splash, but I do not know enough about them yet to tell. She is a VERY pretty little girl though and I love her just the same. I just feel you should get what you pay for!! Good luck with your girls, whatever they may be!!!

I breed and show Bantam Barred Rocks. I don't see any in your pictures. Cute little chicks!

Thanks everyone!!! I didn't think any of them were barred rocks. Only two of them have that reddish brown on the neck and chest could they be roosters? They shouldn't be mixed breeds.... I got them through Townline Poultry in Michigan.

Well if that's the case than they really screwed up my order cause I ordered 30 chicks 12 ducks and 7 turkeys all at once.

First my BO roo turned out to be a cornish cross roo, i ordered 5 gray leghorns and I may have gotten one that may be my next question, and now no barred rocks. It does
suck when you don't get what you order. I guess I will have to call them. Will they do anything or should I just leave it alone? They are replacing the BO roo for free, but I am not sure what they would do with this, and I am already attached to these.

Townline sells black sex links, black australorps and barred rocks. As others have stated, I think you have black australorps and maybe black sex links. Definitely no barred rocks, as far as I can tell.

Black Australorps will have very black/grey shanks and feet. Mine (just like yours) are from Townline (about 8 weeks old now) and also have the white feathers under the wings.
