Barred rock roo barnyard mix

I’m new to chickens and accidentally bought a barred rock cockerel. I’m considering keeping him until he can fertilize eggs to make some barnyard mixes. I have a wyndotte, well summer, white rock, 2 olive Eggers, and mystery brown lady. Would breeding show both parents traits? I know it depends on who the roo and hen are. It also seems like most people like more than 6 hens per rooster. Please share thoughts on what your experiences are, and what I should do moving forward.
