I have a small flock of 9 barred rock hens and I wanted to get a rooster for them! My boyfriends mom found one for me and I just picked it up yesterday. I’m not quite sure this chicken is a roo but more likely a pullet! I also don’t know his age🙁 The lady didn’t tell us how old it is. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated!

His barring is particularly pale, which is typical of males.
His comb is huge for his age. His face looks young enough that he shouldn't have such a sizeable comb.
He's very cute.

He's also got very thick legs and not much dark wash down them (the girls usually have it down the legs and feet.)

He's a cutie.

I had known about the color being paler, but when putting him next to my other mature barred hens it almost seems they are the same color. I’m not sure if it makes a difference because they are much older than he is.

Any photos of the hens?
It's sometimes difficult to see the difference.
