Is this true 100% of the time, that females will not sprout wattles?? Cuz I have a couple of BR babies (3 weeks old) that are supposed to be pullets, and I can see wattles beginning to form!

i dont think its 100% because our other girls have the start too but they are very very tight. Almost like its just a clearing in the feathering for them because they look nothing like Raylan.

I'm still anxious about them though...cuz Brave "Girl" has distinct pink wattles. But the wash down her legs and feet is really dark.







I just don't know!!! The suspense is killing me!!

I don't want to get attached to any other cockerels...because I can only have one, and the rest will either become dinner, or found homes with someone who will NOT make them dinner (if they have to be someone's dinner, better my dinner and not someone else's).

I know the feeling. We are on the hunt for a home for our roo and its not going well so far and I am already to attached to him to make him dinner

Hate to tell you, but I'm pretty sure that's a cockerel. The comb is not the only concern, very light with bright yellow on feet and beak. Though you're right, there is a nice dark wash on the feet--but my BR pullets' feet aren't usually that bright yellow.

I'm pretty sure too, at this point. I was looking at them tonight in the brooder, paying attention to the feathers...and it looks like I have 4 cockerels and 2 pullets. The 2 pullets' feathers have the typical female pattern (where it looks like the white bars blend in with the dark feathers, and the cockerels are definitely barred in pattern. Stupid lady from Southern States...so much for my 1 COCKEREL AND 5 PULLETS!!!
