Barred Rock Sexing Help!

Hello all, this is Beatrice my 24 week old barred rock. Beatrice likes to bagawk really loudly intermittently all day. She also has not started laying yet while all of her sister have. Is Beatrice a Bert or just a late bloomer? And if in fact Beatrice is a Beatrice what is with the bawgawking? Thanks for all of your help!

The bawgawking is pretty common - some chickens, like humans, talk more than others and it sounds like Beatrice is a talker - the only noise that should give you pause about gender is crowing. 24 weeks is not at all late for having not yet started laying.
That said, I don't see a photo, so hopefully you can get that posted soon and we can lay your mind at ease as to whether you have a Beatrice or a Bert.

Yay!! I was hoping so!! She's such a beautiful bird it would be a shame to have to re-home her (we live in rural area but have very close neighbors who we like and wouldn't want to disturb). Well I'll cross my fingers for an egg from her soon!! Thanks a bunch!

Absolutely a hen, and she sure looks to be laying. How do you know she isn't? Some birds are pretty stealthy.

Your Barred Rock is a pullet. She looks like my Brigttea she is always talking to me when I go inside the coop to get the eggs so your Pullet is a Beatrice I hope that helps you out.
