Standard. Will get some pics and post. ThanksWhat breed? Standard bred, or from a store? Standard bred birds often take a lot longer to mature. Or it's a pullet. Got any pics?

Boy, that's really surprising! Well, I guess if I get an egg before he/she is a yr old, I'll have my answerYeah, I've had plenty of standard bred Barred Rock cockerels that aren't crowing at 6 months and don't have more than spur buds, they just take a really long time. And they're nowhere near ready to handle grown hens at that age (mine, anyway).

How can you tell? Not that I'm doubting you, just looking for info on the breed.Oh yes, that's absolutely a cockerel, @Susan Dye
I love my sexlink! She has only missed laying 3 times in a 18 months. She's friendly, eats out of my hand, curious, runs the flock like they are hers. And, she lays the biggest, prettiest eggs! Hope you come to enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mineMy husband just purchased 4 RIR's two days ago, supposedly 16 weeks old, well, suffice to say,I noticed immediately, they were sexlinks and they were full grown (they're all hens and laying eggs)
I'm obviously keeping them but my husband was swindled out of $36.
