My Barred Rock hen started laying last week (she is 20 weeks old), and has given us about 4 or 5 eggs so far. They are pretty small- and a light cream color, kinda almost like pink

We thougt it was from our Bantam Silkie, until we saw the BR actually laying. I thought she should be giving us larger eggs. Our Black Star started laying about 3 days before her, and even her first egg was bigger than the Barred Rock's last egg. The Black Star is giving us some nice dark brown eggs.

Anyone else with small barred Rock eggs? Any comments? This is our first experience with eggs.

Same here - our BR is our second to lay and we're getting little pinkish 'pullet' eggs. The yolks are quite a bit more orange than our RSL eggs too. Also she's (the BR) only laying every other day...

Mine is doing the same thing. Stated laying last week and I got about 6 small eggs. Anyone know can explain that to me? Are they going to get bigger?

Those are commonly referred to as 'pullet' eggs. Many times when hens start laying the eggs are smallish, but will increase in size as she goes along.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This here is your answer.

Yes, they will get bigger over the next 12-24 months. The eggs you buy from the grocery store are usually from hens that are 12-18 months old, even though they've been laying eggs for 6 months or more.

my Barred rocks are 22 weeks today. All have distinguishable combs and wattles. One or 2 singing egg song and all squat. NO EGGS YET!
All 3 RIR are laying now.
Barred rocks should be earning their keep soon.
Can you tell the difference between the 2 breeds eggs?

My barred rock lays the smalles egg out of my mixed flock of five. But, she is by far my best layer! She has laid an egg daily for over a month now with no breaks! She's been laying since July, so five months, and they have gotten slightly larger, but are still small. That's ok though! I'll take a small egg every day over a larger egg less frequently :)
