Getting 25 barred rock chicks, unsexed and 25 meat birds. Just wondering if you can tell the difference between them all. Want to keep them all together for the first 3 weeks. Any ideas on this? Thank you.

I got three BR's hen chicks about a month ago. Sooooo cute. (See the pic below!) They grow so fast! My husband named them (much to my surprise)... Wynken, Blynken, and Nod. They are all very inquisitive, and dare I say it.... pretty smart! Each of my girls has as distinct personality. The smallest, Nod, is the most outgoing. She'll be the first to investigate ANYTHING. She also totally enjoys just sitting in the crook of your arm getting petted. The biggest, Wynken, is the opposite. She does not like to be picked up, and complains loudly. Blynken is the darkest, and will submit to getting petted with an attitude of ... "oh, alright....if you must".

All three absolutely love mealworms, chopped greens, and mixed corn, peas, beans, and carrots. Eaten in that order. Leftover salad greens are also devoured. and cooked rice. Pretty much anything, actually! They are little gluttons, and will chase after my daughter if they suspect she has any possible kind of yummy for them. Toes in flip flops are fair game.

We all love to sit outside and watch what we call "Chicken TV" - covers chases (bugs!), fights (that was MY corn kernel!), comedy (falling off a perch), and drama (scampering under the nest box if a crow flies overhead).

So glad they are here! LOVING MY BARRED ROCKS!

There ARE leg bands, but i'm not sure if they're okay to put on little babies. You could try posting this question here.... https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/11/raising-baby-chicks

Sorry i didn't have an answer, but thanks for asking!!
