Barred Rock winter laying?

Its been a while since I have had many Barred Rocks in a flock and am wondering how they do on average as far as laying through winter?
Seems like I remember at one point having a flock of Barred Rocks and Black Australorps and not hardly getting eggs at all, but that may have been the second winter during their molt. I didn’t have any new pullets coming on at that time.
This year It seemed like the New Hampshires layed some right on through, and the Australorps dropped off again.

For many years I always kept 1 year old upcomers to keep me laying through the winter while the 2 year olds molted and took it off.

Barred Rocks are average in winter, in my experience. But my 2 year olds did molt, as most birds, and took the winter off.

Which is why its good to keep refreshing the flock with new layers each year to get you through the winter months.
