I'm thinking yes, but need to know age. If it's under say 4 months, definite rooster. And not a pure Rock but a mixed breed.

there are almost 9 weeks. The mom is barred rock and I thought my rooster was as well but he must not be.

The rooster is not pure. His overall dark color and uneven pattern show he had one barred parent, not two. The hen's wavy comb could show mixed breeding, or could be funky hatchery stock.

And yep, at this young age, anyone with a red comb like that is male, sorry.
