I recently got a Barred rock rooster to breed with my Golden comet, Brown leghorn and Americaunas. I was reading about the Barred rocks and i read that it was a duel purpose breed and that not all strains are good at egg production. Im not sure what strain of bird i have. I was wondering what are the chances that the offspring off these birds will lay well?

Golden comets and brown leghorns are excellent layers. Barred rocks are very good layers. So using this rooster should get you some very good egg laying crossbred pullets.

Your ameraucana is probably an Easter Egger. They are also a good layer, her colored eggs will be a bonus.

What color are the eggs she lays?
