It also probably depends who is working there. Some people may be farmers, and the others just uninformed teens.I'm sure that the TSC employees are wonderful people who have all good intentions, I just don't think they're given any information about how to care for or identify chicks, ducklings, guineas, etc.
I think that it tends to be uniformed teens. Tbh I'd like to work at TSC just so that people can have someone who is at least mildly informed about how chicks work.It also probably depends who is working there. Some people may be farmers, and the others just uninformed teens.
So here’s the thing about TSC, it’s a great place to get good hardy birds. The problem is that their suppliers don’t give a flip! Hatcheries aren’t as careful when they ship to stores since once it reaches the store it’s no longer their problem. This leads to less accurate sexing, meaning it’s more common to get cockerels in a batch of pullets since they don’t have to refund you for the mistake. And mistakes in breeds like this instance. I bought a SLW and got a astrolorp. This also happened at a breeder. This combined with certain employees not knowing what they’re doing can lead to misidentifications. Despite this, I still get birds from TSC because every time I buy from a breeder, they die. I’ve never had more hardy birds than the ones I get from TSC. I just research the breeds they have to make sure it’s correct. I will gig TSC for hiring people who have no idea about farm life. That’s just........no. (But just as a note, I think OP got the better end of the deal. I’d be more angry if I got BRs when I purchased SLW XD)Mental note: never buy chicks from TSC
I know. Where I am, most of the people working there are older folks who are better-informed, though.I think that it tends to be uniformed teens. Tbh I'd like to work at TSC just so that people can have someone who is at least mildly informed about how chicks work.
Lucky.I know. Where I am, most of the people working there are older folks who are better-informed, though.
Most people in TX are farmers/ranchers, though.Lucky.
