I'm planning for next spring and I have a question about barred chickens to get sex-links or auto sexing chicks.
I'm planning to get Marans for their dark colored eggs. As I was looking at different breeds of Marans I saw Cuckoo Marans and French Cuckoo Marans. I'm wondering they have the same barring traits as Barred Rocks. If I can get one breed that possesses both qualities of dark eggs and the barring gene that would be ideal.
I'm leaning more heavily towards the French Cuckoo Marans since they're listed as heat hardy, docile and broody.
