Ok, I know the rumor is they teach basketmaking in the loonie bin, but I love it! Any fellow basket makers or wannabees?

I can't do it. I saw some hand made baskets on here once that were beautiful so someone on here makes them.

My DH and his dad make grape vine baskets....I use them for hanging flowe baskets on my porch and we sell them and wreaths to our local florist shop.

HaHa!! Back in my young college days the joke was "underwater basket weaving." As in "Yeah, she got an A in u.b.w." I probably would have taken that class had it been offered, because I LOVE baskets...lol. What a terrific craft skill!

Wow, nice to see some other basket people. I just got a digital camera and once I figure out this newfangled contraption I want to post some of my baskets (I am 57 give me a break with the camera LOL) I like to make all kinds, but ribbed baskets are my most favorite since I am more able to customize them and be creative. If anyone has pics of the baskets they made or like please post them.

Thanks

Connie

I love to make baskets as well. I use pine needles and raffia to make mine.

This one is a project in the works:

I made this one for my mom a few years back:

I love all the pics of baskets you all have made! They are beautiful and it seems like we all make different kinds, PeeWee your coiled ones are so pretty! I like the Native American designs, and Barb, I love your basket too and I think we have a special connection both being 57 and farm girls. I love my farming days and would love to return to them but I have to move before I can. Hopefully someday soon it will happen. I have my kitties and I am trying to learn to be a good 'slave' to them LOL

I am almost done with my current basket and the cats have been kinda rough on the only one I have not sold so it will be a bit before I post any of mine.

I'd love to see more if anyone has pics!

Connie

Very nice baskets PeeWee. It's very hard to make a lid that fits well on the basket (At least for me!) I like the pine cone on the lid and the setting for the pictures is perfect for that type of basket.
