Bathing A Silkie Tutorial (Pic HEAVY!)

Did the dang bird give you a tip?

I usually throw my silkies in the washing machine. Your way looks hard.

That was great. Never seen a chicken in the bath...I'll be sure to share this with my daughter. We just got some Cochins and I'm sure they are going to get dirty!!

I use the Spray-N-Wash for my white birds. After you shampoo them and let the water out, I spray the foot feathers and area just below the vent to remove the stains. I let it sit for a minute or two and then rinse. It helps get them whiter and remove the dirt and poop stains.

L&Schickens :

How do you bathe a hard feathered bird for show? Or do you just wipe it down and hope for the best?

I couldn't accurately tell you, since I've never washed a hard feathered bird. I would assume that its basically the same, only you have to use more caution so as not to break the feathers..... although I've not heard of anyone bathing hard feathered birds either..... Good Question!

I see you use the blaster my 1st choice for drying a dog.

I love the wet silkie he looks like he's giving you the curved chicken claw of death!
