I know, it seems ridiculous, lol. I bought 2 m/o Sultans last week. They were a nervous the first night and didn't get on the roost. Unfortunately, they decided to sleep UNDER the other chickens. So, yeah, they need a bath. I'm hoping to get them tame enough to visit nursing homes, so I think a good cleaning is in order.
I looked up chicken bathing on YouTube and came across a few videos. Once suggested a rinse with a tiny bit of bleach in the water, and a second rinse with vinegar in it. What do you think of the bleach rinse? He also used Dawn dish soap. If it's gentle enough for animals covered with oil, it should be okay for chickens, right? The other option might be kitten shampoo. I have to get that for our Guinea Pigs anyway.... Getting ready for the County Fair in April.
Any thoughts? I also need help with taming them. My other chickens were bought as day old chicks so they are super tame. These were bought as two month olds and are extremely skittish. Hints on getting them used to being held?
Thanks
Kim
