I was reading an article on bathing your chickens and decided it was worth a try! I had three wash bins: one with soap and borax, a rinse off bin with a TINY dab of bleach, and one with water and vinegar. When you are washing your chicken in the soap/borax, lightly 'pluck' there feathers, NOT rubbing or scrubbing, for that will break feathers, and we wouldn't want that! Once you are done, drain them off above the bucket, and rinse them with the water/beach. Once all the soap is off, rinse them with the water/vinegar. The bleach will help with white or lighter birds and the vinegar really brings a shine to the feathers. When I was done, I gently blow-dried my one rooster, since it was a cooler day, but my other rooster went out and basked in the sun, and dried really quickly! I hope you all will try this, it is well worth it!

Note: At any time, DO NOT leave your chicken(s) unattended, for they can easily lose than footing and drown, even in shallow water! DO NOT bathe your chickens on a cold day and let them out back into the coop, they can become very cold and get sick! Also, if you want to bring out the redness in the comb, you can rub it with Vaseline!

Thank you all for reading and I encourage you to try this for yourself. Make sure you post about your experience here!

I think my chickens like dirt baths its healthier for them. I can't bathe 50 chickens. I'm sure its ok to bathe them here & there but chickens actually have good hygiene when it comes to keeping themselves clean.

7L's point is a really good one. I think that bathing is in line with showing or if they have some really strange dirty situation...... 'after all, they ARE chickens." :O)
