Bator issues? Help! Advise!

Hi.
I made a homemade bator using some of MissPrissy's ideas, with the cooler and everything. It has worked quite well, but there's one thing that I am concerned about:
If my egg that is on day 19 hatches soon, and it is sitting on the wire above the water bowl(the water bowl is not in reach so the chick can't drown!) will the chick be ok? It is a plastic type wire with pretty big holes, and I am worried it will hurt the chick.

Should I just put like a paper towel under the egg for the chick to sit on when it hatches?

yes, a paper towel will probably help or a thin soft cloth
