so, i got my bator set up (no eggs yet, they come monday) and the humidity is 78% with the little amount of water that the instructions told to put in. We are in Alabama and it is usually quite humid here. So, does the humidity have to be lower until day 18, or can i leave the humidity high like it is?

days 1-18 are supposed to be 40-50 % Then days 19-21 up to 65-75
However, day 18 maybe at the higher % too I can't remember that for some reason

You're going to have to find what works for your area. I don't put any water in mine for the first 18 days and the humidity usually holds right around 30%. Then late on day 18 I add a wet sponge and bring the humidity up to 60-65%. 78% is too high for the first 18 days. The eggs need to be able to lose some of their moisture and let the air cell grow or the chicks will drown when they try to hatch. I generally have nice clean hatches doing it this way.
