Bator to full?

Yep, once you install a fan it is no longer still air, but if it only goes on with the lights that is fine. The idea is to keep the heat more even. As for computer fan, you need to put it in a power converter thing, like your power supply in the computer, so that you don't blow it out as you can't put it directly in with the lights. I run my fan off a separate power supply.

I do not know what kind of breed(s) the eggs are.. LOL! I think it is going to be the biggest mixed grill you ever seen in your life!

Last week Wednesday, my brother stood in a shop, chatting to his girlfriend. They were wondering what they could get me for my birthday. He mentioned that he would love to find some eggs or chicks, considering my new interest. They decided it is going to be impossible.. (There is nobody around here with chickens..) I guy that stood behind them, interrupted, saying, no.. not impossible.. He got plenty of chickens that is laying.. They started to chat..

My brother tell a tale of driving along dirt roads, walking kilometers into the bush.. and eventually finding a "kraal" with chickens living in the bush.. They collected that eggs in less than half an hour, just from all the different nest in the "kraal"

I am going tomorrow.. I will take pictures..

Do you run your fan 24/7?

I can do the power supply from a computer..

If you do run your fan 24/7.. isn't there a permanent draft in there?

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I am so excited! LOL!

Please tell me how big your bator is.. I got 2 small ones and 2 big ones (lol, according to my standards) I am wondering if a person can install a fan in a small one to?

I also run mine all the time. My bator is small though! Only holds about 25 eggs. Here is the set up. The fan is not intergrated but can be moved around.

Good luck on your hatch! Keep that humidity up!

It would be interesting to hear where the chickens were and how they are raised where you are.

Thank you all for the interest.

4 chicks now and another 3 piped! Yah!

Silkiechicken and arlee453, why don't you mount your fans? Is it preverable for you to be able to move it around?

Silkiechicken, if I may.. It is a lot harder to saw wood completely straight than what I first thought.. My door also didn't seal completely. I got a single sided (rubber like) tape from our local hardware store. It glue to the one side of the panel, allowing the door to set into it, dust, air ext prove. Maybe it isn't the way you wanna go because I don't see any vent holes in yours. Just a thought. Please take it in the spirit it was given.

I will happily keep you all up to date on whats happening and how they are raised. I will take lots of pics!

A short story. I live in a rural community. Education levels are ecstreamly low and the western world just a rumor. I own a small business and got a few men and woman working for me. When I got my first chickens everybody was helping on a permanent basis. Building coops ext. The day I hold my first EGG!!! in my hand one of my workers suggested we eat it. I couldn't believe my ears and said.. Over my dead body. I am going to turn it into a chick.. LOL! They all looked at me like I have finally lost my mind. I told them I will have the plans for a bator the next morning.. Google.. My best friend.

Everybody kept close track of the progress of the first batch but nobody believed... In fact.. it started to turn in a running joke. This morning, when the first chick hatched and I called out to everybody to come look.. I will leave it for your imagination.. LOL. Lets just say my rep around here raised significantly!

I am very proud of you for taking the initiative and not being afraid to try new things and look at the long run for those eggs. I imagine your story will be told for many generations and I hope you are looked up to. Way to go!!
