BATOR vs. Broody on shipped eggs. Candling thru Hatch Pics!

If it were me, and my silkie hen...i would let her hatch and raise them. Silkies are very attentive good moms! When you know a breed is well known for being a good brooder/mom, you can bet she will do well with her babies. I would think she would be very upset, to have babies stolen from her when they hatch. That will be her joy to raise them. Sometimes we need to think "what if i was that mom, who would be a good mommy?" mode... put yourself in the birds feet. LOL I was very lucky to discover my buff orpington broodies make excellent moms this season! After seeing my hen hatch her babies, raise her wings to cover them, raise up as they hatch or nestle under her... i could tell she was very attentive and loving. She was even showing the day olds how to peck at stuff today in their box. I am so excited about the other 2 broody girls that are sharing another larger box, that i gave them each 6 eggs. Most likely tomorrow the dozen will end up all together, as one leaves to eat and one takes over... but they take turns sitting and is soooo cute! They were sharing 3 peafowl eggs, but hatch day came and went, and the eggs just didnt hatch. Sigh! Not their faults, i think the eggs just were not fertile. So this time we put our own purebreed eggs from my various flocks under them, will have a better hatch this time...and let them be mommas.

By the way, i noticed even though i marked my eggs with pencil under my broody hens, because other hens will lay in same box...after awhile the pencil wore/wiped off... you may have to mark them again later. Just thought i would share. I thought the same thing though...mark them so i knew which were set on already and take new ones out, and the pencil was gone later. ughhhh!!!

BATOR EGGS: All 7 are developing on track! Eggs under BROODY: 3 of 5 are developing! No candling pics from broody eggs, it was intrusive enough taking them from mama to candle them!

So are saying 10 of the 12 shipped eggs are developing? If so, that's amazing! Only 4 of 7 of mine are developing, but that's still over 50% so it's OK.
