OK, hear me out.

Taco... ...Pizza!

Prepare the crust as usual, adding garlic powder, chili powder, cumin with the salt - 1/2 tsp, 1 tsp, 1/2 tsp to the dough before you let it do its first rise, and work it in.

Punch and stretch after the first rise on your cooking surface - peel or dish.

Allow to rise a moment or three and begin to skin over before topping - you are going for a "hand tossed" type pizza here, not thin crust, and not deep dish.

Use refried beans as the "sauce". Sprinkle liberaly with seasoned taco meat, black olives, onions. Top with a cheddar jack cheese blend, bake as normal.

When it comes out of the oven, pretend its nachos - cover in shredded lettuce, dollops of salsa, sour cream, pickled jalapenos*, crumbled cojita, and thin sliced avocado.

Cut with a sharp knife and serve.


* these are doing double or triple duty here. Some combination of pickled red onion, jalapeno, and nopalitos is needed for heat and brightness. If you go with onions here, leave them out of the initial toppings.
