Jeremy I'm fine with getting the mareks. I don't need it since I have no other flocks close to me but it's only another 30 cents per bird and it's important for those who do live close to other flocks to have it. We did it last time too for the same reason.

Steff I'll try to get pics tonight. Mine have finally gotten color to them but they are still speckled. Yes all of my am girls started laying a month ago but I don't have any more silvers so I can't vouch for how long they may take. Is he sure she isn't laying somewhere else? They are almost 37 weeks old now! He may have a freeloader on his hands.

I was hoping for silver eggs too. Sorry about Freckles acting up! She was always the mellowest of all my BOs.

Kim Clyde was from that same hatch last year and he is also about 8 & 1/2 months old (almost 37 weeks). I have another roo from that same hatch that I'm probably going to rehome. He is the opposite of Clyde though. He is too submissive to my other roo and as a result has not been very successful when trying to breed (1st roo chases him off every time). He is a little smaller than my other roo too but he is very pretty. Do you want him? If Clyde doesn't shape up he may just have to become dinner. I've been hanging on to 2 black am roos because I'm afraid if something happens to the 1st one then I'm out of luck for breeding but I need to pare down since I want to breed my wheatons and my BCMs too. That's 4 roos total that I'll have (in 3 different pens)!

Thanks Laurieks! I appreciate it!

Not sure at this point.

I'm trying to figure out who goes here. I have 12 roos of different breeds and my BCMs are my main project too right now. I have to get some chicks out of these birds. Bill went to a lot to get them and then build yet another run when we saw how huge they were. LOL

Clyde is beautiful, but what an attitude and he just isn't very suave, so the hens run. Then again since the huge moult I had going on here after Bill died I haven't seen an since August, so they may just not be in the mood. LOL

I can't even remember when I got him from you. I've been wanting to put him in with Bonnie, but they hate eachother and I've gotten mixed results on sexing Bonnie. She hatched April 24th, still no saddle or hackle feathers, but Illa is sure Bonnie is a late bloomer, so might be a Benny. I want dark blue chicks and this is the best breeding for that. I also have a Silver and 2 Lavs which is why I wanted to order more. I was going to see if anyone wanted to do this, but I like it so much more that poor Jeremy gets the headaches. LOL I figure Clyde will be used to add to several colors and he is my only black. Now if I can get a few more blues I'm good.

Latest update!

jeremy- 3 wheatens and 3 silvers
wolftracks- 3 lavs, 2 silvers
Laurieks- 5 wheatens and 10 "surplus" chicks
dldolan- 2 lavs, 2 silver, 2 wheatens
SunnyDawn- 5 wheatens
PetRock- 1 silver (possibly 2 silver, if Norm will give up 1 chick.)
nmantime- 3 buff chantecler, 6 "hatchery choice" Ameraucana (possibly 5 "hatchery choice", if he gives a chick to Debi.)

So, we're at 48. Someone call a friend and tell them they need 2 baby Ameraucanas!

If not... I'm going to add them to my order...

Sunny, I don't think he has a freeloader. His coop setup is in the darkest part of the yard under a heritage redwood. I think the birds are just waiting for a hint of light. He hasn't been supplementing. I think spring will bring her around.

Doesn't that add up to 47 chicks? And are we just dividing the cost of the Mareks and the shipping instead of dividing the total by 50 then multiplying by the number of chicks we are each getting? It was a long day at work and maybe I'm making this more difficult than it is. If we are all paying the same for shipping and Mareks no matter how many chicks we are getting then I think that I would like two more, please!
