Bay Area BYCers!

It's great to see a new name here! You are certainly not butting in! Welcome!

I don't even live in the Bay Area anymore and I butt in all the time!

I will be hatching some Black Copper Marans the end of March but I'm not sure how many extras I will have at this stage. PM me if you are interested. This is the only hatch that I am delivering to the Bay Area so I'm trying to keep them for just Bay Area folks.

Mrs Foote your polish are too, too cute! How do they see where they are going?

I am so excited!!! I finally finished my homemade bator and it is holding temps really well right now. I am going to baby-sit it all night to make sure it stays stable when the temps drop tonight then it will be loaded with eggs from my ams and black am X EE crosses first thing tomorrow. Should get some very pretty blue/green egg layers from this batch. I hope I get a decent hatch cause I want to keep a few and I've already sold half of what I'm setting.

Oooh. Let us know how it goes! I hope you get some lovely birds. So are the BCMs from Audrey, erm, I mean, Clark Gable? I look forward to seeing his babies. I'm sure they'll be gorgeous!

Yes I took pics but planned on waiting til tomorrow to upload them. I'd love to see pics of your bator too (I'm a huge pic hound)! How about we both post pics of our bators tomorrow?

Good luck with your hatch!!! Sounds like you are off to a great start.

Yep! Gonna put him to work here shortly.

He is in the next pen with the girls now and he sings to them all the time. In 2 more days he will join them and hopefully they will all like each other! I'm just giving them a chance to get used to seeing each other before throwing them in together.
smile.png

Also, I will be setting the ameraucana (pure and half EE) eggs tomorrow so you will be getting at least 1 pullet from that hatch (it will take a while though to be able to tell pullet from cockerel).

He sings to them? Awwwwwww. I'm so happy to hear that. If you get a chance sometime, I'd love a video of them. I'm so happy that he went to a good home! Thank you again!

How is Marlon? Does he have any girlfriends yet?

I have a variety of Marans eggs to set tomorrow, so chickies soon. I'm not sure what all of them are since I won some (probably keep them all since from show birds) and I have cuckoo Marans and Golden Cuckoos and the eggs are very dark, so let me know if you are interested in chicks.

I don't have Araucanas and haven't for years. I thought about buying a pair yesterday, but the roo was missing a tuft and I couldn't get anyone's attention to find out about them, so passed.

I do have Ameraucanas in blue, black, lavender and silver. I'm also going to be adding 2 new colors very soon, so stay tuned!

I also have Penes and looking for another couple of pullets or hens. Dark eggies there too, but not like the size of a Marans eggs.

I may have a connection for the ISA Brown near me. I might be able to find out for you tomorrow even. There are some on here that have them.

Marlon is still with Clark and gets to see the girls only through the wire mesh for now. In a couple of days he will have to part company with Clark since he will be going into the layer pen. Eventually he may have to go to a new home (running out of room) but I hope that we can find a place in the country before then. He is such a good looking boy, looks almost pure blue wheaten, that I would love to put him in with my other EEs and my wheaton ams but right now the EE girls are in with the Black Ameraucana boy. That also is temporary since the black ams all need to be in their own pen so I can breed them alone but for now any hatches are a mixed EE/am hatch (at least I can tell my EE eggs from my am eggs due to color but I still need to separate out the gals I don't want to breed when I start the black am project). I don't have any pure wheaten boys so Marlon may get to breed with my wheaten girls for some very pretty EE babies but I won't try to pass them off as pure ams (even if he does look so close to pure blue wheaten) like some folks do. The babies will just be very pretty EEs.
smile.png

I love my EEs too though! I just love the huge variety of egg colors I get right now. It makes for such a colorful basket (or carton for my egg buying customers who get the biggest kick out of all the pretty eggs).
smile.png

BTW Marlon has not shown any signs of crowing yet. If he keeps this up none of my neighbors will ever know that I have 3 roos now.
hide.gif

I don't have a video camera but maybe I can get Clark to sing for a short cell phone video. He's really trying to crow but it sounds more like a musical sigh. It's adorable and not even my grumpy neighbor can resist it! I'll try to do it tomorrow before he joins the girls and has to leave Marlon's side.

Are we still gonna split an order of blue ams or do you just want to wait until your girls are laying again and give me eggs?

No I'm still waiting for an email back.

I'm going to bed, but I'll send her another one tomorrow, so we can get started. I want these new hens too, so we'll have lots of blue chickies soon. Unless you want hatching eggs instead. What's your preference?

And...if I had had someone to get my son to school I would have gone to Reno tonight with my daughter and some friends. They'll all be there till Thursday, my birthday.

Need to sleep, but can't. Gonna try again.
